Algemeen Dagblad, 31 January 2015: 'Privacy for parkers'

"Motorists are not required to enter their license plate information when paying for parking in major cities like Amsterdam and Rotterdam. This is according to an Amsterdam court ruling. However, motorists in that case must be able to prove by other means that they have paid. Chairman Bas Filippini of the Privacy First foundation, which rises for the protection of private data, had started the court case. At several parking meters, the license plate number must now be entered. That way, inspectors can use a scanning car to check the license plates of parked cars."
