Privacy First Annual Report 2025

Hereby, Privacy First Foundation is pleased to publish its Annual Report 2025: click here for the PDF version.

At our annual report Here you can read all about our main activities in 2025 (with some outlooks for 2026 and beyond), including the National Privacy Conference and our Dutch Privacy Awards, our quiet diplomacy, political lobbying and legal proceedings, projects and coalitions, events and other activities. This annual report is accompanied by our financial statements (pdf).

Despite its limited budget, Privacy First consistently manages to deliver social value, largely thanks to smart collaboration with other organisations, pro bono lawyers and professional volunteers. For example, in 2025, Privacy First raised public awareness and attracted media attention to the risks of “smart” doorbells, worrying developments in the exchange of medical data, harmful identification practices in the financial sector, mass surveillance under anti-money laundering legislation, and the risks posed by the European digital identity and the digital euro.

European (and therefore also Dutch) privacy law is coming under increasing pressure from the business community and the US government. Yet, particularly in these times of geopolitical tensions, universal values, principles and civil rights must not be compromised. The lesson from the past is simple: large, centralised databases containing sensitive data are misused in times of crisis. This is therefore precisely the time to make our European and national digital infrastructure privacy-friendly and sovereign: independent of Big Tech and foreign legislation. Through the Dutch Privacy Awards, our lobbying and legal action, Privacy First is keen to play its part in this. However, this cannot be achieved without financial support from funds, sponsors and (corporate) donors. Click HERE To become a donor to Privacy First!
