National Privacy Conference 2025

For the eighth consecutive time, ECP and Privacy First are organising the National Privacy Conference on 28 January 2025. This is the annual Dutch privacy event on the European Privacy Day. During the conference, Privacy First will also present the annual Dutch Privacy Awards.

Purpose of the National Privacy Conference and the Dutch Privacy Awards is to jointly build a privacy-friendly society with business, government and science. At the National Privacy Conference 2025, the theme will be 'What can be done?' central. This time, the conference will take place at Nieuwspoort in The Hague.

Privacy by design has now grown into a mature field, boosted in part by the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in 2018. Almost seven years later, this approach has led to significant progress in privacy protection in design and development processes. A topic such as shift left shows how early attention to privacy in development processes not only facilitates compliance, but also creates value.

At the National Privacy Conference, chairman of the day Tom Jessen Among others, in conversation with Aleid Wolfsen (chairman Personal Data Authority). Subsequently, Bram Hoovers (Considerati) will take us through how privacy can be exploited as an opportunity within a changing technological landscape and will Jaap-Henk Hoepman (Radboud University Nijmegen) will elaborate on the concept of Privacy by Design. The Ministry of Economic Affairs asks for input on policies on personalised ads, among others, during the conference.

During the conference, the nominees for the Dutch Privacy Awards themselves with video pitches to the judges and the audience. Traditionally, Privacy First closes the conference with the presentation of the Awards.
