Privacy First annual report 2014

Excerpt from the foreword by Privacy First chairman Bas Filippini:

"Due to privacy violations, the basic principles of our rule of law are increasingly being eroded. In the future, this will lead to the disruption of our society from a distrustful and non-equal government that acts as a control apparatus instead of as a service provider and guarantor of our rule of law. Democratic gains that come into play here include the right to anonymity and freedom of movement in public spaces, the presumption of innocence, the right of lawyers and journalists to privilege, medical confidentiality and the use of cash. Since 2001, Privacy First has seen no freedoms for citizens added, only more and more restrictions. Like a spy net that slowly but surely gets citizens in a total hold."
