Invitation to New Year drinks Privacy First

Stichting Privacy First is pleased to invite you to its New Year drinks party! It will take place on Wednesday evening 11 January next at the Volkshotel in Amsterdam.

After a look back at 2022 and a look ahead to 2023 by Privacy First director Vincent Böhre, two presentations will follow:

First, author Adriaan Bos talking about his exciting novel Lawyer of Truth.

This book addresses current social issues and is highly recommended for anyone who cares about maintaining privacy. In a compelling narrative, Bos gets the reader thinking about the dilemmas arising from the application of modern technologies. Can the advancing technology train still be stopped?

Afterwards, researcher Daniel de Jongh An explanation of a new project by Privacy First: the PrivacyWijzer. Central to this are the privacy issues surrounding 'connected cars'. Cars are increasingly connected to the internet and all developments in this field constitute a growing billion-dollar industry. The gigantic flows of (personal) data generated by the latest models should lead to more efficient maintenance, fewer accidents, less traffic jams and fewer emissions, among other things. At the same time, the extensive data collection by all kinds of parties - first and foremost car manufacturers themselves - puts pressure on the privacy of hundreds of millions of motorists. Driving behaviour, routes, destinations, information from your phone connected to the on-board computer as well as, for example, health and biometric data can all be tracked. To what extent are motorists still in charge of their own data?

After the presentations, there will be room for discussion and questions from the audience. To conclude, there will be drinks where we can toast together to a privacy-friendly 2023. Everyone is welcome, admission is free. Donations to Privacy First, however, are greatly appreciated!

You can register via info@privacyfirst.nl but is not mandatory.
