National Privacy Conference 2022

For the fifth consecutive time, ECP and Privacy First are organising the annual National Privacy Conference. 28 January is European Privacy Day, the day the European Data Protection Convention was signed in 1981. It also encourages companies and organisations to improve personal data protection.

This edition will take place online and has the overarching theme: privacy is cross-border. Europe's role in this is of great importance. What is in store for us? How should we deal with Artificial Intelligence from a privacy perspective? How can organisations prepare for the privacy future and how can we make our influence felt in Europe? These and other questions will be addressed. In addition, Stichting Privacy First will again present the annual Dutch Privacy Awards.

Speakers include. Monique Verdier (vice-chairman Personal Data Authority), Max Schrems (founder NOYB), Haroon Sheikh (WRR), Martin Vliem (National Security Officer, Microsoft), Gry Hasselbalch (cofounder, European thinkdotank DataEthics), Wilmar Hendriks (jury chairman Dutch Privacy Awards) and Paul Korremans (chairman Privacy First). Chairman of the day is Tom Jessen.

At the conclusion of the conference, the presentation of the annual Dutch Privacy Awards place. All nominated projects will be presented to the public by the entrants. The Dutch Privacy Awards will then be presented in four categories: 1) Consumer Solutions, 2) Business Solutions, 3) Government Services and 4) Incentive Award.

Normally, ECP and Privacy First organise this conference annually for a relatively select audience from our networks and supporters (maximum 200 people in Nieuwspoort, The Hague). This year, due to coronagraphs, we have again decided to organise the event largely online and thus for a wider audience. Click here for the video of last year's conference.

Privacy First organises the Dutch Privacy Awards with support from Democracy & Media Foundation and The Privacy Factory, in collaboration with ECP.
