Eurocommissioner Viviane Reding orders an investigation into the controversial Dutch Passport Act. She writes this in a letter to MEP Sophie in't Veld, who raised the issue.

Privacy First Foundation, which is embroiled in a lawsuit against the state over the fingerprint database, said it was "very positive news" in an initial reaction. The verdict of the case Privacy First brought against the central storage of fingerprints is expected later this week."
