Facebook promises privacy improvement

Popular social networking site Facebook is going to improve the privacy of its users. This commitment follows a Canadian investigation into the US internet company's privacy policies. Facebook is going to give users more openness and control over the information sent to third parties, such as developers of games and quizzes on the site. In addition, users can delete rather than de-activate their accounts if they do not want their information to be retained. The commitments apply to two hundred million Facebook users around the world, Canadian privacy watchdog Jennifer Stoddart said on Thursday. Facebook will be given a year to implement the changes in Canada.
