Google, Yahoo, Microsoft reprimanded by EU
The usual suspects got a letter from the EU Regulator.

European privacy regulators (called Article 29 Working Party) have issued a press release accusing Google, Microsoft and Yahoo! of being in breach of the European Privacy Directive. The letters call on them to take a better approach to anonymisation and to stick to promised deadlines for retaining personal data.
